How the index is calculated

We count the day's crypto articles from outlets that have published steadily over the past month, each weighted by its audience. A new source joins only after a month of history, so adding feeds does not lift the index.

The day is compared with the median of the same outlets over the previous 30 days: a weekday with weekdays, a Saturday or Sunday with weekends, since crypto media write less at weekends. 50 is a usual day; each doubling adds 25 points, so 75 is twice as loud and 100 four times.

An issue is published after the UTC day ends and never changes afterwards. Days with too little data get no issue.
